Meet the Team
“The trainers, they believe in you more than you would ever imagine. That’s the type of gym everyone needs to be a part of.”
-Yesenia Mendoza, JMBA Member
Our teams’ main focus is YOUR goal. We thrive on making each day a different workout, NO DAY IS EVER THE SAME! Our trainers have a collective 50 YEARS of experience in boxing, both competing and training, and some are still active today. We are well-versed in weight training and cardio exercises. Therefore, our boxing academy offers a variety of workouts that push you both physically and mentally.
OWNER AND COACH
JOSE MORALES
“I guarantee that after you train with me you will not only love the workout – you’ll love the sport of boxing.”
My passion for boxing runs deep, fueled by 58 amateur bouts and a commitment to sharing the transformative power of this sport. Since 2006, I’ve been dedicated to coaching, working with everyone from 4-year-olds to 70-year-olds, from aspiring professionals to those simply seeking fitness and confidence. I developed the 10-tier Warrior Program, a comprehensive system that has produced superior boxers. My approach is rooted in understanding each individual’s unique needs, adapting training to accommodate injuries, strengths, and goals. I believe in fostering a supportive and motivating environment where everyone can thrive.
GYM MANAGER
KELLY Garcia
I’m 31 years old, a proud mom to a toddler, with another little one on the way—and I truly love both motherhood and what I do here at the gym. My journey with boxing started back in 2016 when I first walked through these doors with the goal of losing weight. Not long after, I began working here, never imagining that this place would eventually become my career.
Ten years later, I’m still here—and I still love it. Boxing has given me so much more than physical strength. It helped me mentally, taught me discipline, confidence, and showed me parts of myself I didn’t even know existed. The lessons I learned inside the gym carried into every area of my life.
I graduated from Sacramento State in 2018, but if you had told me back then that the gym I joined to work out would turn into my long-term career and passion, I never would have believed you. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of a community that changed my life and now allows me to help others do the same.

My boxing journey started in 1998 in San Jose, CA as a freshman in high school after finally convincing my parents to let me join a boxing gym. From training, to sparring then participating in exhibition bouts (smokers), then very few amateur bouts, to getting injured along my journey several times, and after learning of a pre-existing injury in my lower back I was advised by doctors to no longer participate in the full-on contact part of boxing. With a strong passion for boxing still, in 2014 I decided to learn how to coach and train individuals using the sport of boxing. From 2014 to 2024 I worked at several boxing and mma gyms as a boxing trainer in the San Jose/South Bay Area. After several years of just boxing training with no full-contact, with my lower back feeling better, in 2021 I decided to train for an amateur Master’s Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. After a hard sparring session, I injured my lower back again which took me out of the gym for several months. After that last injury and being on the older side (39), I realized coaching the sport is a better option for me. At this same time, I took on a role as boxing instructor for the East Side Union High School District in San Jose, where I formed, operated and coached an after-school boxing program for two high schools in the district. William C. Overfelt High School and my former high school, Silver Creek High School.
After running those boxing programs for three years in June 2024, my family and I moved from San Jose to Lincoln, CA. I became a member of JMBA shortly after settling into Lincoln, taking classes working my way back into shape. Now as a trainer at JMBA I’m glad to be a part of such a welcoming environment and being a part of a great team. I’m also looking forward to using boxing as a way to help members become a better version of themselves both mentally and physically.
